This picture shows the Sui Dynasty's military campaigns fighting against the Koreans.
The Sui dynasty had a vast of military campaigns throughout the dynasty. What these campaigns did was they conquered different parts of China to extend the borders/dynasty. But these military campaigns weren't cheap, they were very expensive. There were military campaigns held in the north and in the south. The campaigns in the south were more successful than in the north. Unfortunately, the Sui Dynasty overcame a resistance in Korea; they attempted 4 times to attack and failed each time( a picture is shown above). Through the use of costly military campaigns, the Sui Dynasty was able to establish an empire that reunited much of the territory ruled by the Han Dynasty. Wendi (founder of the dynasty) had deliberately kept Crown Prince Yang Di (Wendi’s son). Yang Di was important to the military campaigns because he fully established the examination system for government and continued the legacy of military activity, fielding an army of roughly two million in an attack on Korea. Yang Di was a good emperor, but after the funding of the Sui dynasty. Yang Di was hardly involved in any major military campaign or policy decisions. The Sui dynasty eventually ended for two main reasons, Emperor Yang Di was assassinated and the military campaign technically led the dynasty to a downfall due to all the expense/cost.
